Research Interests:

1. Autism is recognized as a neurodevelopmental disorder. It is characterized by impaired social interaction, deficit in communication and repetitive behaviors. A challenging, but potentially fruitful approach to evaluate proposed brain abnormalities of autism is to study analogous behaviors in rodent models. We will focus on the role of the cellular mechanisms of excitatory and inhibitory balance in the animal model of autism. We will design therapeutic interventions to minimize the neurological and behavioral abnormalities of autism.

2. My laboratory investigates the brain function and emotional memory processes in Psychiatric Disease. We will focus on the neurobiological mechanisms in the emotional imbalances in animals with psychiatric disorders. We will emphasis on the role of neurotransmitter receptors regulation, the neuronal circuitry and synaptic plasticity function in emotional regulation by using pharmacological, molecular, animal behavior, and electrophysiological assessments.

3. Use non-drug strategies such as deep brain stimulation to improve neurodevelopmental disorders or mental problems.
